SoCal Grassroots is an independent volunteer organization open to anyone - Greens, Independents and Decline to State as well as Democrats - interested in helping to move our society towards true equality, justice, and democratic ideas.

So Cal Grassroots is dedicated to advancing an agenda rooted in hope and the real American values of Opportunity, Integrity, Community, and Responsibility.

Our primary mission is to give volunteers a way to get involved. In addition to our ongoing activities such as tabling, meetups, voter registration and voter education, we are also harnessing local Hollywood talent to improve democratic messaging nationwide and developing a Swing Districts program that will send our traveling precinct-walkers to two Republican Congressional districts in SoCal to turn them blue.

CALLS TO ACTION:

SoCal Grassroots Coordinating Committee continues its support for Censure or Impeachment

In response to an e-mail question from one of our members, the Coordinating Committee of SoCal Grassroots passed the following motion:

Moved, Seconded, and Passed that SoCal Grassroots support all efforts to Censure or Impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

This is particularly timely as US Representative Dennis Kucinich has presented an Impeachment Resolution on the House floor, calling for the impeachment of Vice-President Dick Cheney. We urge you to contact your Representative in the House and let them know that they should support this Impeachment Resolution if they have not yet done so.

PENDING LEGISLATION - THE ESCALATION AND CONTINUED OCCUPATION IN IRAQ

The ad hoc committee on Legislative Action and Advocacy presented its initial recommendations on three Iraq bills to the Coordinating Committee at its February 11 meeting. The Coordinating Committee approved the three bills: S287 (Sen. Kennedy, sponsor plus 9 co-sponsors), HR 353 (Rep. Markey plus 24 co-sponsors) and HR 508 (Rep. Woolsey plus 34 co-sponsors).
